OMS Learning Orkestra, formerly known as Orkestra Melayu Singapura Belia (OMSBelia), is a dynamic and evolving facet of Orkestra Melayu Singapura (OMS). This rebranded entity reflects a commitment to nurturing the next generation of musicians, regardless of age or background through education and hands-on experience with Malay traditional music.

The rebranding to OMS Learning Orkestra signifies a broader and more inclusive approach to music education. This new identity emphasizes learning, growth, and the dissemination of Malay music traditions to a wider audience, including both youths and adults.

Life Member
SGD300 (One time payment)

(a) Life Membership is open to all amateur to professional musicians or persons with strong interest in the Singapore Malay Music, regardless of race, religion or gender, who have attained the age of 18 and who are citizens or permanent residents of Singapore.

(b) A Life Member shall have the right to stand for election; to nominate or second a candidate for election and to vote at the General Meetings of Orkestra Melayu Singapura (OMS). An ordinary member shall be eligible to participate in the activities of OMS and use the facilities of the society.

Note: Members may or may not be a performer or musician with OMS.

(a) A Life Member shall receive members’ discount for events and programmes organised and sanctioned by OMS.

(b) A Life Member shall participate in members-only events organised and sanctioned by OMS.

Prestige

(a) A Life Member shall be recognised and identified as a member of Orkestra Melayu Singapura. 

(b) A Life Member shall be given the opportunity to be an official representative of OMS.

Leadership

(a) A Life Member may be appointed as a committee member driving the mission and vision of OMS.

(b) A Life Member may take on a coordinator role, managing a team of committee members.

Ordinary Member

(a) Ordinary Membership is open to all amateur to professional musicians or persons with strong interest in the Singapore Malay Music, regardless of race, religion or gender, who have attained the age of 18 and who are citizens or permanent residents of Singapore.

Learning and Development

(a) A Junior Member shall benefit from experiential learning and interactions from professionals, senior performers, musicians and arts enthusiasts of OMS. 

(b) A Junior Member may be identified for leadership and performing positions within OMS.

Events and Programmes

(a) A Junior Member shall receive members’ discount for events and programmes organised and sanctioned by OMS.

Prestige

(a) A Junior Member shall be recognised and identified as a member of Orkestra Melayu Singapura.

Associate Member
SGD15 (Annually)

(a) Associate Membership is open to all regardless of race, religion or gender, of all ages, and who are citizens or permanent residents of Singapore.

(b) An Associate Member is a member of the Society for the period of programme or activities he or she participates in.

I am not a musician nor can I play any musical instruments. Can I join?

Yes! Definitely! Orkestra Melayu Singapura is a registered society and music-making is just a part of what we do. Get in touch if you have any queries.

Why are there membership fees?

Orkestra Melayu Singapura is not only an orchestra but a society that runs members programme and events. As such, the fees cover our administrative and operational costs to ensure a holistic experience for our members.

Can I volunteer with OMS without being a musician?

Yes, OMS welcomes volunteers who can contribute in various capacities such as event management, marketing, and administrative support. Non-musical volunteers play a crucial role in the smooth functioning of the organization. Send us a note and we will follow up with you.
